3D Models: Unfinished BMW + Lamborghini

October 27th, 2009

I rarely update this site with much new material since I have a lot of revolving projects in the work. I figured I could throw up some old projects to keep this site current with a little tid bit about yours truly. Just some info you may or may not know about me. I was very thrilled about the two-dimensional field until a huge turning point in the industry known as 3D Feature Films, which caused the downfall of the world’s most renowned studio. I remember going through high school telling my family and friends of my dreams to one day move to Burbank, California to sit behind a drafting table in a cubicle as large as my heart’s content. There was nothing but support from everyone to pursue that goal. So I packed up my life and moved to Philadelphia to study Media Arts and Animation for 4 years. The first year was nothing but general electives, life drawings, powerpoint presentations, painting, etc. — you know, all the stuff you learned in high school but have to repeat all over again to reassure that you’re not stupid. The second year was all pencil to paper action filled with disgruntled staff members’ views on the traditional path. Because of the recent changes in the industry students were given an ultimatum during the third year–2D or 3D. With the huge surge of Pixar and a bit of hope into ever getting my foot in the door, I went the 3D route. With only 2 years left and no prior 3D knowledge, I went through tons of sleepless nights of render crashes, lost data, and failed projects. In the end, I think I got the hang of it. I ended up landing an animation intern in New York doing small work on well-known animations and decided the industry wasn’t for me (go figure). Although I would rather not work in the industry, I still enjoy animation and would love to work on a project with Disney. I believe that is my ultimate milestone.

TEMPLATES: Starting Your Own Clothing Line?

October 20th, 2009

Starting off it was a bit hard finding consistent templates for some of our basic linesheet needs, so I ended up creating a quick template library about a year ago. I also found out a lot of folks were also in this position and decided to post them on a few forums. This is great for almost anyone involved with creating graphics on apparel and presenting linseheets to stores or printers. So if you need something simple and basic to throw your designs on feel free to download the full zip file at the bottom of this post.
